How to look slimmer: three Hints for Spring and Autumn
and Autumn
1.
Wear trench coats
The
classic trench coat is a truly timeless item that can be suitable for all
kinds
of body types. Thanks to its line tight around the waist (without being
too
close-fitting) and wide at the bottom, this garment can enhance your
figure,
visually extending the silhouette of your legs and shaping and
highlighting your curves instead
of covering them (the result is better when
wearing
high-heeled shoes). In the meantime, it allows you to camouflage a
few extra pounds around the hips and thighs—but also, in part, around the
waistline—thanks
to its particular shape.
To
make the most out of this item, though, a few cautions are needed,
especially
for those who do not have long legs.
First,
always match it with high-heeled or
medium-heeled shoes and
boot-cut pants,
which, being tight on the knees, can emphasize the slender
effect
on the legs (avoiding shorter and straight pants like those in the photo
on
the left).
A
second hint is to leave the trench slightly open around your neck, or,
when
it gets colder, match it with a
scarf in tone with the trousers. As you
can
see in the image below on the right, the result is not only slimming but
also very
chic!
2.
Overcoat and pants: Some more hints
Another
important feature you particularly need to take to heart when
wearing
an overcoat is
that it hides everything from the knee up
while
highlighting the lower part of your body, so you must be particularly
careful
in choosing which pants to wear, as well as picking out the right shoes
to
pair them with.
This hint is particularly true if you wear flat shoes or
sneakers whose
color contrasts with the hue of the pants: in this case, the pattern of the
pants—as
well as their hem length—should be the ones most suitable for you.
As
you can see below on the left, trousers
that are too long and not
appropriately
hemmed not only shorten the legs but also make the whole
figure look fuller.
It is enough to shorten the
jeans, so they come straight to
the
ankle (as in the picture on the right), to get a slimmer silhouette and
obtain
a totally enjoyable result that makes you look thinner even without
wearing
high-heeled shoes.
3.
Which overcoat should be worn with a skirt?
As
we encountered, in spring and autumn, overcoats
are a
must-wear of the season.
Besides, if you choose high-quality fabrics or
pick
out a particular color or cut, they
can provide a more refined and chic
look even when the
rest of the outfit consists mainly of basic garments (such
as
jeans and T-shirt). It is therefore essential to know the pattern that can help
you to get the most of your strong points while hiding what you want to keep
hidden. That being said, always remember that for those who want to look
slimmer, the best solution is to choose
an overcoat with the belt, especially when matching the overcoat with a dress or a skirt. As you can see below, a straight pattern (on the left)
enlarges the figure, whereas a
model that is more formfitting and also has a belt (on the right) slims
the silhouette while stretching the legs.
Hint: the result is better if the color of the overcoat is similar to that of
the skirt.
